At ONE Early Education, Child Safety is embedded in everything we do. The safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child and young person are central to our culture, decision-making and everyday practices.
We take seriously our responsibilities and statutory duty of care, including our obligations under the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. We are committed to strengthening our capacity to provide safe, supportive and respectful environments and to respond to concerns regarding a child’s safety or wellbeing. Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy outlines our approach to meeting these responsibilities and maintaining high standards of care.
ONE Early Education has zero tolerance for conduct or behaviour that compromises the safety or wellbeing of a child. We are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued, respected and empowered. We celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and seek to build positive and trusting relationships with every child.
We believe children should have a voice in matters that affect them. Our educators encourage children to participate, express their views and share their ideas, and we listen to and respect what they tell us. Any concerns, disclosures, allegations or suspicions relating to a child’s safety or wellbeing are taken seriously and responded to promptly and appropriately.
We maintain safeguarding practices across all ONE Early Education services. Every team member understands their responsibility to protect and support children and is expected to maintain current knowledge of child protection legislation and requirements, including Regulation 84.
Our team undertakes child protection awareness training every 12 months. Significant changes to legislation or reporting requirements are communicated to all team members to ensure our knowledge and practices remain current. All team members are required to uphold our Code of Conduct at all times.
We recognise that a safe and inclusive environment requires understanding and respecting the individual needs, backgrounds and identities of every child. The cultural safety of Aboriginal children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and the safety and inclusion of children with disability are fundamental to our commitment and embedded throughout our Child Safety and Wellbeing practices.
